It is amazing how many of us are not sure about the status of our relationship. Enter a Google search for “signs he’s cheating on you” or “signs she’s no longer interested” and you’ll be amazed to see how many other people are searching for the exact same thing. The very fact that you’re entering these Google searches can mean you’re in a bad relationship, of course, but if you’ve ever wanted to stop “wondering” about your relationship and build a healthier one with greater peace of mind, it’s time to turn your focuses elsewhere.
It’s time to learn the indications that you’re in a good relationship. The sad truth is that many times, problems in a relationship are not because of the other person, but because of some growth that needs to take place within us. Certainly there are exceptions in which you have to cut ties with someone else because of their problems, but you’d be surprised how much can be fixed by fixing yourself. So let’s take a look at indications that you’re in a healthy relationship, and see if we can recommend ways to help you improve yours.
Pleasant Surprises. If you’re in the kind of relationship where your significant other can surprise you with flowers (typically from the man) or a creative gift of some sort, many people would tell you that you’re still in the “honeymoon” phase of the relationship. But what if you know that the honeymoon phase has already passed? In this case, you know you’re continued to build a healthy relationship because the surprise gifts and thought that went into them means your significant other is thinking about you – and not only that, but thinking about how to make you happy. That’s an indication of a good relationship if there ever was one.
The reaction of other people. We all know one of those couples that isn’t right for each other – and how do we know them? Because when they’re around, all of us roll our eyes and then talk about them when they’re out of the room. The reaction of other people when hanging around your relationship is not always 100% accurate, but it can be a good indicator of how strong your relationship is. If you, as a couple, are pleasant to be around and people don’t always turn down your invitations that can be a healthy indicator. On the other hand, if people continually tell you about how much tension there is between you and your significant other, there may need to be some work done.
Your own feelings. How happy you are and satisfied with your relationship is important – very important. Sure, a relationship is a two-way street, but both sides of the street need to feel independently happy as well as interdependently happy for the relationship to succeed. Just ask yourself how you feel and you’ll have a great indication as to the overall strength of your relationship right there!
